Fearless Faith in Our Awesome God
Have you ever stood in the shadow of a seemingly impossible task and wondered if God had chosen the wrong person? Or considered how you were ever going to fulfill the responsibilities placed in your path? Or possibly you even took the time to point out to God your shortcomings and politely suggested others that might be better suited for the job at hand.
That pretty much describes a recent struggle of my own. As many of you know, God has built the message of Courageous Hope into my life and has made it abundantly clear that He’s also called me to write it down. I have ten folders, each designated with a chapter name, full of the lessons and Scriptural truths God has woven into my story and tender stories from others’ that inspire me with fresh resolve to live courageously surrendered before my Lord.
Although I have dozens of documents and numerous talks I’ve presented around the country, and I’ve witnessed how God has transformed lives in the wake of these messages … the “writing it down” part has been an unexpected struggle and the delays in finishing the book have been disheartening. One of the greatest difficulties has simply been trying to carve out time in the constant, although joy-filled, demands of family and ministry.
The good news is this – God is FINALLY breaking through and words are ACTUALLY making their way onto pages in a somewhat clear and logical pattern. However, last week as I considered how far this book is from completion, I thought, “How in the world am I ever going to be able to do this? How is this ever going to come together in a way that makes sense and captures the depth of this message?”
At precisely that moment, I glanced down at my Bible reading for the day, and read these words: Perhaps you will think to yourselves, “How can we ever conquer these nations that are so much more powerful than we are?” (Deuteronomy 7:17)
Yes! My question exactly! How can I EVER do this?
But don’t be afraid of them! Just remember what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all the land of Egypt. (Deuteronomy 7:18)
I knew God was speaking directly to me …
As Moses continued to convey God’s message to the Israelites, God was breathing fresh hope and courage into my soul.
First … the instructions … Remember everything God has done for you in the past! Remember His miraculous signs and wonders and the supernatural demonstrations of His power. Remember all that you have seen with your own eyes!
Then … the promise … God will use that exact SAME POWER on your behalf to make a way through, to demolish the obstacles, to defeat your enemies and bring about supernatural victory!
Don’t be afraid … for the Lord your God is among you, and He is a great and awesome God! (Deuteronomy 7:21)
I wonder how many of us need to take time to remember all that God has done for us in the past … the miraculous ways He has powerfully provided for our needs, demonstrating His faithfulness and tenderly meeting us with lovingkindnesses … all these things we’ve seen with our own eyes.
The next time we feel ill-suited for the task at hand or overwhelmed by the obstacles in front of us, let’s remember … Nothing … and that word really means just what it says … Not one thing is impossible for our Great and Awesome God!! Not one problem leaves Him scratching His head wondering how in the world He will ever make a way through.
May we live fearlessly … embracing the truth that the Lord our God … our great and awesome God is with us … and that His divine purposes will, without a doubt, be accomplished in our lives!
I would simply like to add a humble request for prayer during this time … that God would protect my time and pour His wisdom and power through me as He creates this work of Courageous Hope. Thank you so much my dear friends!
