Courageous Faith Weekend Retreat

This series of talks focuses on the first Courageous Faith Power Statement: "I refuse to be overcome by my circumstances or controlled by my emotions. Instead I choose to live my life fully convinced that God’s character is unchanging, His promises unfailing, and my eternal hope in Jesus Christ will never disappoint." Drawing from personal stories and many Scriptures, we will be inspired by the courageous examples of those who have gone before us and awed by the power and love of our Almighty, Faithful God. We’ll discover practical steps which will help us refuse doubt, worry, and fear as we learn to stand boldly and courageously on the Word of God. "Our problems may be big, but our God is BIGGER!"

 

Courageous Attention Weekend Retreat

Is reading the Bible simply an item on your to-do list or do you run to God’s Word with expectancy and delight? Let’s become women who refuse to treat the Word of God as an afterthought and instead choose to pay attention to His Word and His voice. Through real-life stories, practical Scriptural principles, as well as a fresh breath of Jesus, we will learn to hear God’s voice more often and more clearly. We will seek to find God’s answers to the following questions: How do we hear His voice in decision-making? How do we respond to His promptings with confidence? How do we pay attention to His thoughts when we are walking through difficulties and disappointments?

 

Courageous Hope Weekend Retreat

How do you hold onto hope when the disappointments of life have left you weary? How do you continue to hold fast to God’s Word and believe His goodness and love is for you when it seems a breakthrough will never come? What do you do with your wounded heart when it looks like God is neglecting you and ignoring your deepest concerns and desires. One of the most hopeful truths in all of Scripture is that God makes all things new. He never walks away from broken people or turns a blind eye to woundedness. He brings beauty out of the ashes of our lives and takes things that are broken making them whole. This is a call to live the daring life of hope and embrace the abundant life Jesus promises each one of us.

 

Each of the talks in these weekend retreats can be presented as stand-alone sessions. I have listed a few other stand-alone sessions below, but I am able to adapt any theme and have spoken on many faith topics. Thanks to our Lord who never ceases working in creative, adventurous ways, I always speak from a freshly-taught heart, with new stories (hopefully a few funny ones) and fresh Biblical applications.

  

Unanswered Prayers/Unfinished Story

If we are praying, we are waiting. Times of waiting can leave us vulnerable to the enemy’s lies and full of questions and confusion. Has God forgotten me? If He loves me and hears me, why isn’t He answering me? Based on Psalm 106:13 which describes the Israelites as a people who “soon forgot all He had done and didn’t wait for His plan to unfold.” God spoke to me through this verse and showed me that all my unanswered prayers are simply part of His unfinished story. The Israelites not only forgot God and all He had done, they forgot that His plans take time to unfold. Let’s discover how we can become women who allow our waiting times to be faith-filled times.

 

Sharing Your Testimony Seminar

This is a fun, hands-on class where participants learn a simple technique to share the stories God is telling in their own lives. Each person will have the opportunity to share three different types of stories and will receive feedback from a partner. Every participant will walk away with a renewed understanding of God's powerful hand at work in their world and will be freshly convinced that God will use their stories to reveal His faithfulness and love to others.

 

Parenting Principles Seminar

Before I became a mom, I had the naïve assumption that my children would be just like me: pleasant, easy-to-get-along with, conscientious and goal-oriented. Our first-born, strong-willed, temper-tantrum-throwing daughter knocked my illusions of pleasant parenting into oblivion. In this class, I share some foundational principles our Perfect Lord has taught me during the adventures of raising four children. Participants will be entertained by my imperfections and inspired by our Faithful Father.
